Jason Kubler, a young Australian star, wins a 70-shot rally over Karen Khachanov to break his serve in the second round. This was one of the longest rallies in the major’s history. The Australian has stunned the tennis world by winning this longest rally. There were some fierce forehands and amazing backhands throughout the rally, and it was an intense rally for the fans to watch. 

At the time of the rally, Kubler was behind the 18th seed 6-4, 5-4 (30–40). Apparently, this epic rally turned out to be a breakpoint for the Australian. He won the rally to win the break and level the second set at 5-5, and then went on to win the set 7-5.

However, the 18th seed won the next two sets and went on to win the match 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2. But this rally, although many may not have seen it live, will be remembered for a very long time by tennis fans. The Australian Open has now taken off, and fans are loving these intense matches.

The rally finally ended when Jason Kubler’s backhand nudged the net for a winner. Australian fans heaved a sigh of relief when the point went in favor of the Aussie. The point witnessed the loudest cheer in the entire match. However, after winning the match, Khachanov apologized to the fans for defeating their local boy. He wrote on the camera, “Sorry Aussies, keep cheering for me, please.”

Karen Khachanov goes into the third round

After winning his second-round match, Karen’s next match is against the 16th seed, Frances Tiafoe. Francis is coming off a great win in the second round and had an extremely good year. It will not be an easy match for Karen, however, it will be an exciting context to watch for the fans. 

However, the Australians can still support their other local star, Thanasi Kokkinakis, who won the match against Fabio Fognini in straight sets (6-1, 6-2). The Australian who won the men’s doubles championship last year with Nick Kyrgios is now in the third round of men’s singles. He will have a tougher opponent in the name of Andy Murray, who is confident after his win against Matteo Berrettini.
