US Open men’s final of the year 2022 has the two young players Carlos Alcaraz and Casper Ruud in their first-ever final appearance at the Arthur Ashe stadium. Both the players have been playing some incredible level of tennis since the last fortnight and apart from the US Open champion title which will be their maiden Grand Slam title, they are fighting for ending up as the number one player in the world.
Carlos Alcaraz, the young Spaniard defeated the homeboy Frances Tiafoe in the semi-finals in five sets to reach the finals. He defeated Jannik Sinner in the quarter-finals in 5hrs and 15 minutes of play which was one of the longest matches at the 2022 US Open. He defeated Sebastian Baez, Federico Coria, Jenson Brooksby, and Marin Cilic in the initial stages of the competition.
Casper Ruud, the first player from Norway made his way into the second Grand Slam finals after defeating Karen Khachanov in the semi-finals. He thrashed the Italian Matteo Berrettini in the quarter-finals in straight sets to record his 43rd win of the season. He defeated the lucky loser Corentin Moutet, Tommy Paul, Tim van Rijthoven and Kyle Edmund in the previous rounds to continue his great form at the US Open.
Celebrities in attendance to witness the new champion of the 2022 US Open
Many celebrities have been present in the stands of the Arthur Ashe stadium over the course of action in the last fortnight in New York to extend their support to the players and witness history being made. The highly anticipated men’s final of the US Open had some celebrities in attendance as it was after a long time the players in the finals are not from the Big-3.
Jerry Seinfield, the American stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and producer visited the men’s final between Alcaraz and Ruud to become the witness of the new world’s number one along with his wife Jessica Seinfield who is an author by profession.
Apart from the Seinfield couple, they were accompanied by Jon Bovi Jovi, Debbie Gibson, Anna Wintour, and Rick Astley were also present in the stands. Manu Ginobili, the former basketball player from Argentina was also seen in the crowds at the fully packed Arthur Ashe. Famous Hollywood actress from the movie ‘The Devil Wears Prada‘ Anne Hathaway was spotted in the audience who was enjoying watching the youngsters play.
