Ons Jabeur has received widespread support and consolation after her heartbreaking loss against Marketa Vondrousova. Jabeur suffered a 6-4, 6-4 loss against the Czech star in a match where she was always the second-best, despite being ranked the favorite for the game and the title. She has now gone to two consecutive Wimbledon finals without a win, with the world showering respect and greetings for her to come back more decisive next year again.

Even the Princess of Wales, Catherine was present at the stadium as she honored Jabeur with her runners-up trophy and both stood there in between the prize distribution ceremony for a chat. She consoled Jabeur after her gruesome defeat, and when she was asked about what Princess Kate talked about, she said, “Same thing after last year: to encourage me to be strong, to come back and win a Grand Slam, win a Wimbledon.”

Princess Kate also hugged Jabeur after consoling her, which comforted the Tunisian. At the post-match conference, Jabeur also talked about how the princess asked her for this hug saying, “Obviously she was very nice. She didn’t know if she wants to give me a hug or not. I told her hugs are always welcome from me. That was a very nice moment and she’s always nice to me.”

After losing back-to-back Wimbledon finals, even a strong and aggressive payer like Jabeur can have negative thoughts in her mind and lose confidence, and at the post-conference, she talked about her emotions. She said, “Because I already lost two finals, and this is the third one. I don’t know. I felt I was doing everything right.”

She added, “Again, with the same thing that happened last year. It’s painful because you feel so close to achieving something that you want, and actually back to square one. Again, just try to get rid of these negative thoughts and continue being positive.”

It is truly devastating what Jabeur has gone through, but we all know that she is better than this and she will come back even stronger with all her focus set to be on the US Open title which starts from September.
