WATCH: Marie Bouzkova complaints of Bianca Andreescu shouting deliberately to distract her during their match at the Australian Open
The 24-year-old was distracted by Andreescu's scream as she tried to reach the ball near the net

Marie Bouzkova talks to the umpire
An odd moment occurred during the first-round clash between Marie Bouzkova and Bianca Andreescu at the Australian Open. While Bouzkova was moving to return to Andreescu’s backhand shot, the latter released an unexpected scream which led to Bouzkova getting distracted and playing into the net, losing the point.
The incident occurred at a critical moment in the match, with Andreescu leading 6-2, 4-3 and 30-30 on Bouzkova’s serve. Following a precise forehand down the line, Bouzkova, the 25th seed, appeared to be in command of the game as she neared the net. But in an unexpected move, Andreescu released a high-pitched scream after a backhand return. This startled Bouzkova, who couldn’t make good contact with the ball and played it into the net.
Bouzkova immediately approached the umpire, saying,” During the point, she is screaming!” Andreescu responded with an” I’m sorry” from the other side of the net. The umpire didn’t accept the Czech player’s complaints. It ultimately resulted in a break point for the Canadian, an unseeded player in the competition.
Andreescu went on to win the match 6-2,6-4 to reach the second round of the Australian Open. She will face Spaniard Cristina Bucsa on Wednesday. The 2019 US Open champion has already matched her best result at the Australian Open with her first-round win over Bouzkovva. She hopes to go further and hit the heights of her brilliant run in 2019 at Flushing Meadows.
Marie Bouzkova’s 2022 season

Bouzkova had the best year of her career in 2022. The Czech star won her first title and reached the highest rank of her career last season. She also got the farthest she ever has at a Grand Slam tournament.
Bouzkova started the year well, with her first win ever at the Australian Open to reach the second round. She then reached the third round of a WTA 1000 tournament twice at the Indian Wells Open and the Madrid Open. She, unfortunately, had to withdraw from the French Open due to COVID before the second round. Bouzkova came back well in the next major. She reached her career’s first Grand Slam quarterfinal by defeating World No.4 Caroline Garcia at Wimbledon.
Bouzkova went on to lift the Prague Open, her first singles WTA-level title. She reached a then career-high ranking of 41 and broke into the doubles top 40 after reaching the round of 16 in that format. Bouzkova has already started this year well, reaching the round of 16 of the Hobart International. She is currently ranked 26th in the WTA rankings and will look to build on that status.
