Watch: “No shame in crying” Heartbroken Coco Gauff left in tears after a brutal loss to Iga Swiatek in French Open Final

Coco Gauff

Coco Gauff, the 18-year-old sensation had a brilliant run in Paris making it to the finals of the French Open 2022 in both singles and doubles. She has been scintillating the whole tournament, making it to the finals without dropping a set. She was up against when world number one, and a seemingly invincible Iga Swiatek in the final of the French Open. Coco had a shaky start to the finals and Iga being her usual relentless self, didn’t let Coco escape.

Though Gauff did well to start the second set and took a 2-0 lead after breaking Swiatek’s opening service game, she could not carry on putting the pressure on her. Swiatek took the second set 6-3 to close out the match 6-1, 6-3. Though the scoreline doesn’t do justice to how well Coco played in her maiden Grand Slam final, it was still a valiant effort to not be bageled by a player who is demolishing the strongest opposition with ease. Coco was understandably heartbroken after the loss.

It’s more than okay to feel devastated after losing a Grand Slam final, and Coco let the tears roll down her eyes after her loss. But, she would be proud of her journey looking back on all that she has achieved on the tour. She is a young star who will definitely be back for many more Slam finals.

Swiatek is currently on a different level than any player on the tour and Gauff will be back stronger. But, she still has the opportunity to lift a trophy in Paris. She will play her doubles final tomorrow with her compatriot Jessica Pegula in an attempt to end her French Open on a high.
