Novak Djokovic, the former World number, has been in the headlines since his participation at the US Open stills remains in doubt as he is still unvaccinated and has no intention of getting vaccinated any time soon as he does not wish to compromise on his principles nor wants to get something into his body which may cause significant changes that could hamper his performances. His firm stance on his vaccination status kept him out of all the tournaments in the hard-court season. His vaccination status was in debate as he wasn’t able to participate in the Australian Open.

But showing what a true champion he is, he went to clinch his 21st Grand Slam title and 7th Wimbledon title at the 2022 Wimbledon Championship.The 21-time Grand Slam singles champion is just one behind equalling Rafael Nadal‘s record of most number of singles Grand Slam titles but it seems he has to wait for some time.

His vaccination status has created a lot of debate among the tennis fraternity since he was allowed to play last year’s US Open. He was hopeful of participating at the US Open due to the change in the guidelines which may allow him to play at Flushing Meadows but it remains in doubt since his name is still not present in the draw. The new rule is only for US citizens but there is a short ray of hope for the Serbian legend with more amendments in the future which may be in his favor to participate at the US Open which starts on 29 August.

Amid all the debate, Novak Djokovic attended a friendly basketball match between Slovenia and Serbia in Ljubljana. He was enjoying himself and looked cheerful while cheering for his country from the sidelines. The Serbian player was dressed in a white shirt and green shade pants and his presence was the center of attraction for the audience . Even though Serbia lost the match against Slovenia, NBA superstar Luka Doncic lead his country to a spectacular win with a scoreline of 97-92.

During the match time-out, the Serbian player met Luka Doncic of Slovenia where they both exchanged pleasantries and even hugged each other in gratitude. Seeing this, the crowd could not contain their excitement and kept cheering for both athletes. While the match went down to the wire, Djokovic kept cheering for Serbia soaking into the atmosphere. He even appeared tense at times during crucial points of the game but eventually, his country lost the friendly match.
