The current World No.1 and Vasek Pospisil started the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA) in 2019. It is a newly-formed organization which aims to represent the interests of professional tennis players and promote better communication. It further encourages cooperation with tournaments and other stakeholders in the sport.

Earlier legends such as Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, held some reservations for the newly-formed organization. It was formed as a different tennis player organization from ATP and WTA. However, now, many tennis players are coming around and liking this concept.

Indian tennis legend Rohan Bopanna has also joined the PTPA by other accomplished players like Paula Badosa, Hubert Hurkacz and others. He took to social media to announce his membership into this organization.

“I am proud to be part of the Professional Tennis Players Association, the PTPA. I really believe it’s a need of the hourWe as current professional tennis players need to have one voice in order to really push for more transparency, more opportunities not only for us as tennis players currently who are playing, but also for the future generations of tennis players,” the caption read.

Rohan Bopanna reached the final of the Australian Open 2023 in the mixed doubles event with Sania Mirza. However, the Indian pair could not win the match. This also marked the end of Sania Mirza’s glorious career. He is currently playing in the Rotterdam Open with Australian Matthew Ebden in the doubles event. They reached the final of this competition and will play against an American-Croatian pair of Austin Krajicek and Ivan Dodig.

Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic has applied to the US authorities to exempt him from mandatory double vaccination against Covid-19. He wishes to participate in the Indian Wells Open and the Miami Open.
