Novak Djokovic, the world no. 1 is one of the best tennis players of his generation and he is set to prove it this year. The Serbian who is yet to win a title this year, is looking to win the Madrid Open in order to prepare for the French Open. Djokovic was seen landing in Madrid on Saturday and later on having a practice match with Spanish player Pablo Carreno Busta with a huge crowd behind his back just to see the match.

The World no. 1 will be playing at the Madrid Open after his absence the previous year. Prior to this year, he has won the Masters event thrice, in 2019 and two other times before that in the year 2011 and 2016. He will be playing his first match against Spaniard Carlos Gimeno or the Frenchman Gael Monfils. At the training session, the Serbian was seen playing with coach Goran Ivanisevic accompanied by his physio Ulises Badio

The Serbian played one of his worst plays of the year. It started off with the 2022 Dubai Tennis Championships where he lost out in the quarter-finals to eventual runner-up Jiri Vesely. He then lost in the first round of the 2022 Monte-Carlo Masters to eventual runner up Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

But the world no. 1 got back on track by reaching the finals at the 2022 Serbia Open and putting up a valiant fight against Russian Andrey Rublev and becoming the runner-up at the tournament, his first finals of the season.
