World No. 3 Novak Djokovic gets the top seed in absence of the top 2 players at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships. The 3-time defending champion enters the Grand Slam with eyes on his 21st major and 7th Wimbledon title that will help him match his childhood idol Pete Sampras‘ tally at the historic tournament.

Djokovic did not participate in any grasscourt events coming into the tournament with his only appearances coming at the Armani Tennis Exhibition event at the Hurlingham Club where the Serbian played only one match as he withdrew prior to his second match at the exhibition event. With only 1 unofficial grasscourt event coming into the Grand Slam, Djokovic is relying heavily on his practice sessions and his vast experience, but that will not be the only thing he looks forward to.

With Novak often having the crowd on his opposing side, he will look forward to getting a rousing reception from the ‘NoleFam’, the moniker for all Djokovic fans. In a now viral video, Djokovic can be seen greeting fans when one of the fans asked him to send a message to the NoleFam and the Serbian happily came closer to the camera and said, “This is the message for NoleFam, I love you guys.” Novak not only did reply in the video, but when the video was put on Twitter, he replied as well.

Djokovic will look forward to having great support from his fans given this could well be his final Grand Slam event of the season as he has refused to take a vaccine just to enter the USA where all foreigners have to show proof of vaccination against Covid-19. With this being the only chance for him to get to 21 majors this season, Djokovic will certainly put his best foot forward for himself and his fans as well. Djokovic starts his title defence against Soonwoo Kwon in what will be the first match on Center Court this year.
