Novak Djokovic was not having an ideal 2022, but with a great run in the Serbia Open 2022, he seems to have steadied the ship and he is back for MutuaMadrid 2022 to get some more matches in before the clay season proceeds towards the French Open. He arrives in Madrid as a top seed and his draw is filled with a lot of challenges and many “epic” clash potential including one with the one and only Carlos Alcaraz who has arrived in the ATP top 10 as he begins his Madrid campaign.
Carlos Alcaraz has won three tournaments this year and has arrived in Madrid after conquering the Barcelona Open, ahead of Stefanos Tsitsipas, Casper Ruud, and many others. He is the most hyped-up teenager in the sport and for a good reason as he has displayed with his three dominating tournament wins. He is on the same side of the draw as Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. He is also among the guys who are expected to make a great run in the upcoming Roland-Garros. The two stars met for a quick practice session in Madrid.

Carlos Alcaraz is touted as the next Rafael Nadal for his aggressive style, matured gameplay, and exactly the same rise as Rafa. Alcaraz followed his idol’s steps to enter the ATP top 10 after a title victory in Barcelona and he looks for more in Madrid. Novak Djokovic wants to get in shape before the French Open to defend his title and these are the few tournaments that he has. He would love to get in title-winning shape and not fall short as he did in the Serbia Open final. So, Novak and Alcaraz went on for a sparring session before their matches begin and their expected meeting in the main draw.
The crowd was excited to see them practice and the number of fans clearly showed the excitement associated with their meeting. The clash of these two will be a great fight and tennis will be of the highest level as a rising young talent seeks to find his place in front of the established titans of the sport.
