Following early exits from the championships at Wimbledon, tennis couple Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa have taken to Greece for a quick vacation before the onset of the North American hard-court Swing in early August. During a recent Instagram Live Q&A the two players hosted while enjoying on a yacht, Badosa surprised Tsitsipas by casually putting in the question of their marriage in the future.

She asked him when will they be marrying, following which Tsitsipas took a pause and answered that he “doesn’t want to spoil it” and said that they’ll “give it some time.” It could be seen that the question came as a surprise to the Tsitsipas, and for good reason, given how the two have been in a relationship only for the past 2 months.

Due to a recurring back injury, Badosa was forced to withdraw from her Wimbledon campaign in the second round. This also spoilt their plans of playing mixed doubles at Wimbledon as a couple. Tsitsipas on the other hand faced a rather tough draw on his side, with early encounters against Dominic Thiem and Andy Murray, both of which went to 5 sets. His campaign ended in the fourth round when in–form American Christopher Eubanks upset him in 5 sets.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is relatively fit and has confirmed his participation in the Los Cabos Open in Mexico, which begins July 31st. Badosa on the other hand is still on the fence about her appearance at the Washington Open but has confirmed that she will be fit to participate in the Montreal Open the week after that.

Tsitsipas and Badosa’s relationship is the most talked about on tour at the moment and is the newest addition to a long list of high–profile tennis relationships on tour. Some of these relationships went all the way to a happy marriage, with a notable example being that of Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina. Others fell off after years of being together, with some examples being Kim Clijsters and Lleyton Hewitt in the early 2000s and the slightly controversial Wawrinka – Vekic relationship that ended in 2019.

With that being said, there are obvious concerns amongst fans about whether Tsitsipas and Badosa’s ongoing relationship will hinder their drive to compete. The duo is yet to disprove such claims by means of results. It remains to be seen where ‘Tsitsidosa’ will play mixed–doubles to fulfill their wish of playing together.
