The 18-year-old Spanish professional tennis player Carlos Alcaraz won the 2022 Barcelona Open. He had a fantastic time in Barcelona. Carlos Alcaraz was seen playing mini tennis and having footie sessions with the Canadian superstar Felix Auger Aliassime in between the tournament. He won the finals against Pablo Carreno Busta defeating his compatriot 6-3,6-2.

After his win at the Barcelona Open, Carlos breaks into the top 10 rankings. Alcaraz matches with his idol Rafael Nadal who was also 18-year old and attracted the eyes of the tennis world by winning the 2005 Barcelona Open and making it to the top 10 first time. Carlos Followed Nadal’s footsteps and achieved the same at the age of 18 too. Carlos became the new World No. 9 when the rankings were updated today making him the youngest player after Nadal himself made it to the top 10 after lifting the trophy.

The 13-time Roland Garros champion congratulated Alcaraz for his win at the Barcelona Open and also Pablo for the finals through a tweet. In the tweet, Nadal says ” Congratulations to Carlos @carlitosalcarazz for the title in #barcelona! and also pablo@pablo_careno_ for the finals A spectacular week for both players and Spanish tennis that once again has a winner.”

It means a lot, I’ve watched this tournament since I was a kid. I always wished to play in this tournament and of course to be able to win the tournament. I’m really, really happy to be part of the Spanish history list,” Alcaraz had said after winning the tournament. Reading the tweet would have been a great moment for both Carlos and Pablo as this tweet was from their idol.

Carlos in the Barcelona Open won Against some tough players. In the round of 32, Alcaraz won against Kwon-Soon woo winning the match by 2 sets to 1. Then in his next match, he won against Jaume Munar in straight sets. In the quarter-finals, Carlos won against Stefanos Tsitsipas who was the favourite to win the title as he also was the runner-up last year and was fresh from a successful title defence in Monte-Carlo Masters last week.

In the semis, Carlos Faced Alex de Minaur, and the match was really close the score was 6-7,7-6,6-4. In this match, Carlos came back from a set down to win the match-saving multiple match points in the process. In the finals, Carlos faced Pablo Carreno and took home his third title of the season.
