Rafael Nadal‘s statue was unveiled at the Rafael Nadal Academy in his hometown of Mallorca on Wednesday (June 28). The Spanish legend attended the event and unveiled his statue himself.
This is also the second statue of Nadal, as two years ago, Roland Garros honored the 37-year-old with a beautiful statue entirely made up of steel. In March, Roland Garros even gifted him a replica of the original statue.
A Twitter user shared the video with the caption: “And here is the new statue of Rafa at the RNA.” Watch the video here:
Before visiting his academy, Nadal was seen watching his friend Feliciano Lopez‘s last match of his career at the Mallorca Open. Nadal is currently recuperating from the hip injury he sustained during the 2023 Australian Open, and since then, even though he was expected to play clay court tournaments, he missed several events, including his favorite French Open, where he has lifted the title a record 14 times.
After missing a series of these tournaments, he slumped to the 134th position in the ATP Rankings. For the first time since 2005, he fell out of the top 10. In a press conference in May this year, Nadal declared that he could hang his racquet in 2024.
Casper Ruud reveals Rafael Nadal has a strange routine even in golf

It won’t be wrong to say that Rafael Nadal is the most superstitious tennis player. He indulges in strange rituals during his practice sessions as well as during matches and never misses following them.
But not just in tennis, the Spaniard has strange routines even in golf. Casper Ruud recalled the time when he got the chance to play golf with Nadal and made fun of his game as well as revealed that the 22-time Grand Slam champion has a weird routine in golf too.
“I played with Rafa twice and he shot under par both of them. If he watches this, I’m just going to take sh*t from him because his swing is awful, it looks so bad but he makes it work somehow,” he said on Wimbledon’s YouTube channel. “He has a lot of strange routines, even in golf,” he added.
His description demonstrates how the routine is not limited to tennis. Nadal most likely has one for each sport he participates in. The Spaniard is a big soccer fan and most likely has a routine in place when playing.
