Nick Kyrgios and World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev clashed in the round of 16 of the US Open. While both players are equally dominated the match for a while, but Kyrgios has certainly given the top seed a challenge. Nick Kyrgios reached the fourth round after defeating J.J Wolf, 6-4, 6-2, 6-3, in the third round.

However intense the rivalry is between these two, they never fail to give their fans a show. The duo last met in Montreal at the Canadian Open where the Australian prevailed in a thrilling set. Coming into this round both the players have a lot to lose. Daniil Medvedev is the defending champion this year at the US Open after he defeated Novak Djokovic last year in the final.

Towards the second game of the third set, Nick Kyrgios took a tumble and fell agonizingly. The World No.1, Medvedev quickly rushed to his opponent’s side to check up on him. Turns out, Kyrgios was alright and much to his luck did not sustain any serious injury during the set. Fans are now applauding and also mocking Medvedev for his sportsmanship. During the match, Kyrgios also lost a point that he would’ve won had he not crossed the net. Fans are now furious that Medvedev didn’t concede the point.

Nick Kyrgios is showing some incredible form over the past few months. He won the Citi Open recently and also reached the final of Wimbledon where he lost to Novak Djokovic. Nick Kyrgios is eyeing another grand slam final this year seeing that he’s displaying amazing tennis at the US Open.

During a recent press conference, he said, “Not many players can say that right now, going in to play Medvedev at the US Open. Like, they’re going to go out there, but I don’t think they’re down the other end of the court knowing they’re going to win. I feel like I’m definitely one of the players that has a chance. With the way I’m playing right now, I have a chance.” It’ll be interesting to see how far Kyrgios goes in the US Open.
