WATCH: “So cool!” Emma Raducanu ecstatic to find her unique portrait made with over 500 Rubik’s cubes
Emma Raducanu and her Rubik's cubes portrait
Emma Raducanu, the young Brit has been struggling to make her mark since things haven’t gone her way at all. She rose to fame after she clinched her maiden Grand Slam title at the US Open in 2021 defeating Leylah Fernandez in straight sets and without dropping any sets. She was looked upon as the next big tennis sensation but has failed to deliver as expected despite being a top-seed player in the tournaments.
She failed to go past the quarter-finals of the WTA tournaments since her title win. She lost to Jessica Pegula in straight sets at the Western & Southern Open in the Round of 16 citing another show of poor performance even though she had a good start where she had registered some good wins against the veteran Serena Williams in the first round and Victoria Azarenka in the second round. She even lost to Ludmilla Samsonova in another quarter-final appearance at the Citi Open followed by an early round at the Canadian Open where she even failed to make her mark.
Emma Raducanu delighted to see the Rubik’s cube rendition
Raducanu will play her first-round match at the 2022 US Open against Alize Cornet of France in the journey of her title defense. She has quite a challenging draw and has strong gameplay with the conditions that might play to her advantage but just the absence of little luck and her misfortune of consistent injury setbacks have made life a bit difficult for the young tennis star which she will be looking upon to avoid in New York.
The official page of the US Open shared a video where Raducanu was shown a portrait of her using over 500 Rubik’s cubes by an artist called ‘The College Cuber‘ after she finished her practice sessions. The artist also made Rafael Nadal‘s portrait alongside the Brit using an algorithm to create the photo and solve the cubes individually to create a pattern and finally put in it together. She was taken aback upon seeing the fabulous work done by the young artist and even posed with the framed cubes for a photo. She appreciated his efforts for the cube rendition and even enquired about the details of the artwork.
It seems things are not in her favor as Raducanu has injured herself on her hand during one of her practice sessions ahead of her first-round match but just hope things do not get much worse for her.
