Taylor Fritz is one of the most successful players on tour this season with 3 ATP titles, just 2 behind the leader and Current World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz. He is the only player apart from Novak Djokovic to win an ATP250, ATP 500, and ATP1000 each at least once this year.

Starting 2022 with a triumph over none other than tennis legend Rafael Nadal in the Indian Wells Masters final to clinch his first ATP-1000 Masters title, he has become the first American to enter the Top 10 since Jack Sock in November 2019. The Spaniard beat him back in a thrilling Wimbledon encounter in the quarter-finals in 5 sets despite playing with an abdomen injury. As they are drawn in the same group in the ATP finals, we will see another clash between him and the Spaniard.

However, Fritz had a relatively poor second-half season, getting knocked out in the first round of the US open. Despite that, third seed Taylor Fritz became the first American champion in Japan Open since Pete Sampras in 1996 after beating compatriot Frances Tiafoe (seeded fourth) 7-6 (3), 7-6 (2) last month.

Getting to play in the ATP Tour finals after Alcaraz’s withdrawal, Fritz will be looking to make the season extra special after his current holiday days in Switzerland.
