Former World No. 1 and 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer is officially retired from professional tennis. The Swiss maestro went out on his own terms but it was an unfortunate result in the match. Teaming up with former arch-rival Rafael Nadal, the duo could not overcome Frances Tiafoe and Jack Sock.
The Americans got the better of ‘Fedal’ in the final match on Day 1 of the 2022 Laver Cup concluding the day and also Federer’s career. An emotional man, Federer’s goodbye had everyone in tears and the emotion could not escape even his closes rivals Novak Djokovic and Nadal.
While Djokovic still managed to hold it in, Nadal and Federer had their eyes bawling out as one of the, if not the Golden Era of tennis comes to an end. Federer was serenated by a special performance from Ellie Goulding and the tribute had all of the Big-3 in tears.

With pictures and videos of the Big-3 and other present in the O2 Arena going viral as they shed tears for Federer, the camaraderie of the Big-3 overshadowed their rivalry. Tennis came out as the true winner as everyone paid tribute to Federer who wept like a baby.
Ending a professional career of 24-years and knowing Federer being an emotional man, his crying was not a surprise. The reactions of Nadal, Djokovic and others on the court was definitely surprising and the fans on social media expressed their happiness on seeing the heartwarming visuals.
