Emma Raducanu
Former US Open champion Emma Raducanu was spotted at the Porsche Tennis center in Stuttgart as she trains ahead of her first round clash at the WTA Stuttgart Open. She made her professional debut on the clay court at the Billie Jean King Cup and had a mixed outing. Although Great Britain lost and failed to make it to the final round, Raducanu will look to carry forward the positives from the tournament.
Currently in Stuttgart, the youngster is training hard to make a mark on clay this year. While her main aim is to do well at the Roland Garros, these events will surely help her build her morale. The WTA Stuttgart Open has some of the best female players from the circuit participating in the event. Starting from World No.1 Iga Swiatek to the likes of Ons Jabeur, Paula Badosa, Aryna Sabalenka and also the returning Bianca Andreescu. Porsche ambassadors Emma Raducanu and Angelique Kerber will also feature in the event as they look to make their presence felt on the court.
Ahead of her action on the court, Raducanu was seen at a Porsche promotional event where she was having a lot of fun trying out her German speaking skills. It was hilarious to see the 19-year-old try out speaking German as we later found out that she was pretty good at it. She was pretty good with her accent and also knew the meaning of a few German words.
“I had to get ready for Stuttgart,” Emma Raducanu opens up on her painful recovery ahead of the WTA Stuttgart Open
Earlier on the media day ahead of the WTA Stuttgart Open, Emma Raducanu shared how she was in excruciating pain due to her foot blisters. The ones that she struggled with during her match against Marketa Vondrousova which she eventually lost at the Billie Jean King Cup. The Britain No.1 struggled with her movement through the court and felt helpless in defeat.
She revealed how she had to bathe her foot on surgical spirit throughout the last week and it was a very painful experience for her. But she was determined to feature at the WTA Stuttgart Open as she aims to gain more experience playing on the red dirt. “My physio Will is bathing my feet in surgical spirit every day – it’s definitely painful,” Raducanu told the media. “We did it after the match [at the Billie Jean King Cup]. I was literally screaming but you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do and try and get ready for Stuttgart.”
The former US Open champion Emma Raducanu will face Australian qualifier Storm Sanders in the first round of the WTA Stuttgart Open.
