Australian former world number 1, Lleyton Hewitt talked about Kyrgios’s achievements in the 2022 Wimbledon and mentioned how he would love to have Kyrgios play for the national team at the Davis Cup, Hewitt is the captain of Australia for Davis Cup and has already asked Kyrgios to play for the team which was declined by the Australian.
“We’d absolutely love to have him playing for us,” Lleyton Hewitt expresses his desire to have Nick Kyrgios play for the national team

Hewitt when asked about Kyrgios said, “We’re a much stronger side if he’s available and can play for us, and he’s an option for singles and doubles matches, which is important in this format. Deep down, he’s still pretty disappointed to come so close but not win, but as I told him, he should be extremely proud of the performances over the last two weeks and throughout the whole grass-court season. Everyone knows the kind of firepower and game style that he has and what he’s capable of doing. He just has to go out there and keep believing in himself.”
Kyrgios displayed excellent performances on the grass court in Wimbledon, and that is why Hewitt talks very highly of the Australian and wishes that he would join the national squad at the Davis Cup. However, everyone was not impressed with his antics as he came under heavy criticism from Spanish coach Toni Nadal earlier.
