The tennis world worried after Emma Raducanu wrapped herself with multiple towels in the Australian Open. It was during her second-round match against Wang Yafan. The former US Open winner faced some physical difficulties. She seemed very uneasy during a long second-round match against the Chinese star.

From a set down, the returning Raducanu fought hard to take the game into a decider. Wang managed to take an early break into the decider set to set the match in her favor. However, Raducanu was not one to give up and tried to forge a comeback. However, her stamina caught up to her. She was seen in a very uneasy state, gasping for air and delaying at every point.

Soon, Raducanu called a medical timeout. She was wrapped up in blankets, complaining to her team that she might throw up. The medical team assessed her, checked her blood pressure, and offered her some pills. In no time, she was back on her feet, fighting for every point, but her efforts were in vain as she failed to cross the line.

In a very slow second-round match, the Brit played a wide range of shots but remained on the backfoot from her sickness. She felt nauseous during the match, which restricted her movement and eventually cost her the match. Raducanu lost 4-6, 6-4, 4-6 to end her short comeback to tennis. This makes her the second Brit to feel uneasy under the humid conditions of the tournament, adding to the pressure of playing a match. Earlier, Jack Draper had also puked right after his match

With this loss, Raducanu joins other fellow British teammates out of the tournament, leaving only Cameron Norrie as the Britisher remaining. After two rounds of the tournament, 3 British players lost on the same day. It started with Draper’s loss, followed up with the loss of Katie Boulter, and finished the day with the loss of Raducanu. With the draws getting harder combined with various upsets throughout the tournament, has made the Australian Open 2024 more exciting.
