What is the French Open trophy called?

Novak Djokovic at the Roland Garros

The French Open or the Roland Garros is one of the most coveted Grand slams in the world. After all the ‘ king of clay,’ Rafael Nadal has won the prestigious Grand Slam 13 times and the clay season is one of the most anticipated seasons of the year. In women’s tennis, the trophy is known as “Coupe Suzanne Lenglen” which is presented to the winners.

The trophy for the Men’s singles is called “La Coupe des Mousquetaires”, which is also called as ‘Musketeers trophy’ in English. The trophy is extremely beautiful with intricate designs of leaves in a grapevine with swans as the handle. Of course, it goes without saying that the original will not be given to the winner, instead only a duplicate of the same is presented.

Rafael Nadal has won the trophy 13 times, and on his 10th win, the Spaniard was presented a replica of the same size and height as the original Musketeers Cup which is the highest honour a player can ever get. Looks like Nadal really is called ‘king of the clay’ for a reason. We hope that he can add more cups to his collection and breaks all records possible.

Like all historic events, the Musketeers cup also has a grand history. The cup was designed by La Maison Mellerio, who were the most famous jewellers of those times. The Cup has been awarded to the Men’s singles since 1973.

The Roland Garros is the only Grand Slam played on clay and is extremely prestigious and the players should all have the intention of winning. The Grand Slam has a lot of history and if won can skyrocket your rankings and career. What do you all think?
