What’s the inspiration behind Carlos Alcaraz’s tattoo?

Spanish youngster, Carlos Alcaraz stunned everyone in the tennis world with his unforgettable year. He won the US Open title this year defeating many of the big names including Croatian Marin Cilic. At the year-end, Alcaraz created history by ascending to the world No. 1 and becoming the youngest ever to do so in the history of the ATP Tour. 

Other than that Alcaraz won the Most Improved Player of the Year award at the 2022 ATP Awards. As the next season beckons, Alcaraz decided to get a tattoo on his left arm. It was revealed that the tattoo is a tribute to his grandfather.

Alcaraz opened up about the inspiration behind the tattoo. He said he always remembers his grandfather’s motto of “Cabeza, corazón, cojones,” during some tough times.

“I always remember what my grandpa says to me. That is three Cs – cabeza, corazón, cojones (head, heart, balls). That moto is always with me,” Carlos Alcaraz said.

Youngster Carlos Alzaraz made his debut in February 2020 at the age of 16. But it was in 2022 that he will be remembered the most. Alcaraz started the year with the Australian Open ranked at No. 31 but finished it with the peak of the rankings. In between Alcaraz won titles at Rio Open, and Miami Open. 

In the same season, he defeated the tennis greats Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal in Madrid Open. Here also he won the tournament and became the youngest in the tournament’s history. After his most famous win at the US Open, Alcaraz ascended to the throne of the rankings. 

As 2023 is just a couple of weeks away, Alcaraz will be thrilled to get back to the court. He will be hoping to replicate the success of this year and add some more records to his name. This year could consolidate his name as the best in the next-gen.
