Casper Ruud has made quite a splash at the French Open 2022. He was not able to go past the 4th round at any Grand Slams and he just flew past the competition to enter his first Grand Slam final at Roland Garros. The Norwegian is a clay-court specialist and was always expected to make deep runs at Roland Garros, but was never made it past 3rd round until now. He has won 7 of his 8 ATP titles on clay.

Ruud played a phenomenal tournament as he went past Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Emil Ruusuvuori, Lorenzo Sonego, Hubert Hurkacz, and Holger Rune, and finally defeated Marin Cilic to enter his maiden Grand Slam final. He faced Rafael Nadal, the thirteen-time French Open champion in the final. Ruud has been steadily rising through the ranks and the Norwegian is currently ranked number 6 in the world.

He has achieved a great deal in his young career and he is improving rapidly. He has been the runner-up in a Masters 1000 in Miami and made a semifinal appearance in the ATP Tour Finals. He has very strong support from his family and coaches which includes his father and coach Christian Ruud and another Norwegian Joachim Bjerke.

Casper Ruud’s father Christian Ruud has been his coach from a very young age. Christian Ruud inculcated Casper with a love for Tennis. Christian Ruud achieved a career-high singles ranking of World No. 39. He was the highest-ranked Norwegian in singles until he was surpassed by his son. Christian Ruud has won 12 singles titles in the challenger’s tour, he made it to one final on the ATP Tour but unfortunately lost.

He also represented Norway at three consecutive Olympics, reaching the third round in Atlanta in 1996. Casper enjoys a very close relationship with his father who has also shaped him into a very humble and pleasant individual. The father-son duo also likes to swing it out on the golf courses as well. Their bond has shaped Casper’s game and his amicable attitude.

Christian has been a shining light for Casper, guiding him ash shaping him from his youth. Casper also has another coach apart from his father. Joachim Bjerke has been known for coaching Casper in recent years. In 2012 Joachim won the Norwegian championship. He has also been a part of the Davis Cup for Norway. Though Bjerke is just four years older than Casper, he has still been a great team member in the Ruud camp.
