Will Carlos Alcaraz compete in the ATP Finals after sustaining an injury at the Paris Masters?

Carlos Alcaraz's participation in the ATP Finals is doubtful
In the post-match interview with a Spanish news agency Mundo Deportivo, tennis star Carlos Alcaraz discussed his hopes of playing in the ATP Finals in its entirety to his viewers after retiring from the 2022 Paris Masters. As per the World No. 1 himself, he will first have to undergo some medical tests before his doctors can tell him the road to recovery.
For those uninitiated, Carlos Alcaraz‘s Paris Masters campaign has been brought to an end due to an unlikely injury sustained during his quarterfinal match with Holger Rune. The Spaniard called a medical time-out during the match and then chose to permanently raise the white flag, as he could not continue the run further. Naturally, the retirement granted a much-needed advantage to the opponent as he advanced to the semi-final.
This has led to speculations about whether the Spaniard will be able to recover in time for the ATP Finals, which is to be held next week. Well, the result is quite disappointing for a lot of fans out there.
Taking to his official Twitter handle on November 5, 2022, Carlos finally announced that he won’t be able to make it to the ATP Finals or the Davis Cup Finals as he needs six weeks for his recovery. He noted, “Unfortunately I won’t make the ATP Finals or the Davis Cup Finals. It is tough and painful for me to miss these two events, which are so important to me, but all I can do is be positive and focus on my recovery. Thank you for the support!”
Holger Rune is thrilled after winning the match against Carlos Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz requested a physio as the Spanish was feeling pain in his left abdomen. At that time, he was about to lose the match. He had already lost the first set 6-3 and was trailing behind 5-6 against Holger Rune in the second set. He took a medical break to prepare himself better for the likely tiebreaker.
Then the Dane held serve to initiate the tie-breaker. The Spaniard served with a deficit of 1-2 and retired with a score of 6-3, 6-6 after allowing a winner to slip by him (3-1). At this moment, Alcaraz retired from the match due to growing abdominal pain. After the match, World No.1 was dejected, but he had his reasons for deciding.
“At the end of the set, I felt bad. My abdomen was getting bad, and I preferred to retire to see it and take care of it. I can’t stretch. I couldn’t serve well, I couldn’t hit my forehand and when I turned the body I feel pain, I feel the abdomen in all the movements. I was playing thinking about it and feeling the pain, so it was better to withdraw,” he said.
On the other hand, Holger Rune is mighty pleased with his effort and cherishes his victory. This is the first time he reached the semi-final round of an ATP 1000 tournament.
“It was a brilliant match from the start until the end. It was obviously very unfortunate that he had to retire. I thought it was a great match, unlucky for him,” Rune said after winning the match.
“I think we both played very well, and I was super focused and it was an amazing crowd, amazing tennis, so I’m super pleased in how I handled everything today,” he further added.
The 19-year-old will play Felix Auger-Aliassime in the semi-final round of the Paris Masters 2022.
