Why did Wim Fissette part ways with Qinwen Zheng?

As already mentioned, Wim Fissette terminated their partnership to join hands with Naomi Osaka who announced her comeback after the 2023 US Open. Qinwen Zheng had talked about his departure and claimed that he went against the terms of their contract and terminated it. She had also talked about being hurt by this decision.

After her gold medal win at the Asian Games, Zheng had revealed it in the press conference and said that she did not want to talk about him.

It is worth mentioning that Qinwen Zheng and Wim Fissette worked only for a few months. The two signed a contract signed a deal prior to the start of the grass-court swing last season and the partnership ended soon after the US Open.

Nevertheless, Qinwen Zheng reunited with her long-time coach Pere Riba. She announced that they will work together in the 2024 season. The pair worked together beginning in 2021 and split after Roland Garros last year.

Zheng rose from outside the Top 100 to inside the Top 30 under Riba and was named the WTA Newcomer of the Year in 2022. Now, she has earned her maiden Grand Slam semifinal qualification which will further strengthen their partnership.
