World No. 103 Tatjana Maria came up against Australia’s Astra Sharma and had to work hard to get past her in a three-set match after falling behind in the first set. She then faced Sorana Cirstea in the second round and despite having an easy first set, she lost the second set. With all to play for in the third set, Tatjana came up against all odds to beat the 26th-ranked Romanian in the third set and win the match. She then faced Sakkari in the third round tie and played beautifully to win the match booking her place in the fourth round. She then faced Jelena Ostapenko in the round of 16 match and everyone expected it to be the end of her fairy tale run in Wimbledon but she shocked the whole tennis world by coming from behind to win the match 5-7, 7-5, 7-5 and progress to the quarterfinals.
On the other hand, Jule Niemeier has been getting the job so far en route to the quarter-finals. She started the tournament by beating Xiyu Wang and Anett Kontaveit in the first-round and second-round matches respectively. The German then went on to face a tough test against Lesia Tsurenko and had to go through three sets to win the match. In the round of 16 tie, she faced Heather Watson and beat her well and clear by 6-2, 6-4 to make it to the quarter-finals.
