Both players have demonstrated exceptional talent and have been heralded as the next generation of tennis stars, making this clash all the more intriguing.

The Spanish sensation dealt well with the Grass court specialist and former Wimbledon runner-up Matteo Berrettini in four sets to book a spot in the last eight. The final score of the instant classic was 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3. Berrettini who looked in great touch in the first set, carrying the momentum from his previous round win against Alexander Zverev was caught in his weak backhand game by the Spanish World No.1 from the second set onwards.

As Alcaraz moves inches closer to his first Wimbledon title, it will be interesting to see whether an inspired Holger Rune can stop him. Rune booked his spot in the last eight with a four-set victory over Grigor Dimitrov. The final score was 3-6, 7-6(6), 7-6(4), 6-3. Though the Danish wunderkind showed struggles in the first set like his previous 5 setter against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, he looked in fine form from the second set.

This will only be the third encounter between the future superstars. Both are tied in their head-to-head with 1-1. Their first encounter was in the 2021 Next Gen ATP finals where Alcaraz prevailed in three sets whereas Rune got the better of Alcaraz in the Paris Masters last year where the Spaniard retired mid-match due to an injury. Their first Grand Slam encounter is going to be a treat for tennis fans all around.
