The Russian World No.3 Daniil Medvedev advanced to his first-ever Wimbledon quarter-finals after his round of 16 opponent Jiri Lehecka withdrew from the match midway due to an injury. The Russian was leading the match 6-4, 4-2 during that time. Apart from a set lost against Marton Fucsovics in the third round, the Russian looked in good control of the matches throughout the championships.

The 27-year-old American Christopher Eubanks sank the Greek ship Stefanos Tsitsipas in the pre-quarterfinals in a five-set thriller. The final score was 3-6, 7-6(4), 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. The American came into the tournament in red hot form winning the preparatory grass court tournament in Mallorca but beating the World No.5 in best of five sets was against all the odds. It will be interesting to see how the American can capitalize on the confidence gained in future rounds.

The Russian World No.3 Daniil Medvedev has played the American World No.43 Christopher Eubanks only once before.
