Ons Jabeur is back in the Wimbledon finals after losing to Elena Rybakina in the finals last year. The Tunisian however had her revenge as she beat the Kazakh in the quarter-finals this year. Up against World No. 2 and reigning Australian Open champ Aryna Sabalenka, Jabeur staged an epic comeback to make the finals.
Between this year and last year’s Wimbledon, Jabeur has reached three of the five Grand Slam finals showing great consistency. With wins with bagels, straight-sets, and comebacks, Jabeur is more than ready for her first title. Jabeur has a shot to break into the Top-3 once again if she wins the title and it will definitely be a motivating factor for her.
Marketa Vondrousova is into her maiden Wimbledon final and second career Grand Slam final. A runner-up at the 2019 French Open, the Czech star has already made the record books becoming the first unseeded finalist at the Wimbledon in the Open Era. Vondrousova was up against super mom Elina Svitolina in the semis and despite the Ukrainian’s best efforts, Vondrousova moved ahead.
The Czech is 16th in the live rankings, two places away from her career-best of World No. 14. A win on Saturday takes her inside the Top-10 for the first time. With experience in Paris and being the silver medalist at the Tokyo Olympics, Vondrousova will indeed back herself to win one of tennis’ biggest titles.
The Wimbledon finals will be the seventh meeting between the two players with the head-to-head neatly balanced at 3-3.
Ons Jabeur vs Marketa Vondrousova: Prediction
![Ons jabeur](https://firstsportz.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Ons-jabeur-1024x768.jpg)
Jabeur is 22-9 for the season while being 7-2 on grass. She has a 70-20 record on the surface historically while being 429-225 across all surfaces. Vondrousova comes into the finals with a 30-10 record this year while being 8-1 on grass. She has not played much on the surface being just 13-12 on it across her career while having a 250-102 record overall.
Both players have had their highs and lows this fortnight in Wimbledon. Jabeur has dropped one set more than her Czech counterpart but that’s also attributed to fighting higher-ranked opponents than Marketa. Looking at their form historically and this season, the sword does bend towards Jabeur but it won’t be a surprise if Vondrousova takes home the title.
Prediction: Ons Jabeur to win the finals in three sets.
