It’s Day 9 at the All England Club for the 2023 Championships, and the stage is set for the exhilarating climax as the final eight players remain in contention in both the singles draws. The matches that have to be rescheduled because of rain have been covered and there is no overlapping anymore as the event is back on track. Some big names will be in action as only the Centre Court and No. 1 Court will be used for the singles quarter-finals, which means the roof will help in the non-postponement of the matches.
The big matches that are going to be played today include the No. 1 in the women’s draw Iga Swiatek vs Elina Svitolina. Both players will start proceedings on Centre Court and it promises to be a mouthwatering clash. The second match on the same court will be that of the No. 2 seed in men’s Novak Djokovic who will take on Russian star Andrey Rublev. This too promises to be a promising contest. This will end the action on Centre Court for the day with only two matches being played.
Action will be steady side by side on the No. 1 Court where two more singles quarter-finals will take place. Fourth seed Jessica Pegula will start proceedings with Marketa Vondrousova. It will be an exciting match, especially with both players wanting to get to a maiden Wimbledon semi-final. This will be followed by eighth seed Jannik Sinner taking on surprise quarter-finalist Roman Safiullin. This match will attract the crowd as many would be intrigued to see if World No. 92 Safiullin can make it to the semi-finals or not. That would end the singles action on the No.1 court.
The Ladies Invitation Doubles category will see Kim Clijsters take on No. 1 Court. Another very important match in the same draw will be of Indian doubles great Sania Mirza who will partner Johanna Konta and play on the No. 3 Court. Fans are in for some great action on Day 9.
