The top-seeded female player, Iga Swiatek will be facing Elina Svitolina in the quarter-finals of the grass-court Major. Both the tennis stars have similar playing styles, and most likely, it is set to be Iga’s one of the toughest tests in the event.

The Polish tennis professional, Iga Swiatek, has achieved her best result in this year’s Wimbledon, passing her previous best RO16 exit in 2021. On her way to the quarterfinals, she defeated Zhu Lin, Sara Sorribes Tormo, and Petra Martic in straight sets. Her only game to reach the third set was against Belinda Bencic in RO16. Iga Swiatek would be hopeful of reaching the semi-final stage for the first time as well.

The wildcard entrant, Elina Svitolina, has had a great year so far. After becoming a mother, she returned to the court in January and has been able to reach the later stages of most of her tournaments. On the way to her first quarterfinal since 2019 at Wimbledon, she defeated Venus Williams, Elise Mertens, Sofia Kenin, and Victoria Azarenka. The former World No. 3 would be eyeing her first Grand Slam title in 2023.

Iga Swiatek leads their head-to-head clashes, winning the lone encounter in the Rome Masters Quarterfinal in 2021. However, with that being said, this would definitely be a completely different match, as the last encounter between them was a clay court event.

Although both of these players have similar gameplay styles, there are some differences in their skill sets. Elina Svitolina has very good movement and consistency, along with her experience on the grass court, whereas Iga Swiatek is more of a powerful hitter and a good server. Iga Swiatek’s form leading up to the tournament and in the tournament makes her a favorite, but Svitolina will not allow it to be a cakewalk for her.
