Just Stop Oil protestors have interrupted a second match on the same court on the same day of Wimbledon 2023. The protestors dropped orange confetti and jigsaw puzzle pieces in two different matches on Court 18. The event took place within a gap of only two hours.

It raised serious questions over security concerns in the grass-court Major. After the first incident, Wimbledon’s official Twitter handle informed about the arrest of the protestors. Fans had expected it to be the end of the protests.

The post read, “Following an incident on Court 18, two individuals have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass and criminal damage and these individuals have now been removed from the Grounds. Play on the court was temporarily paused and, following a suspension in play due to a rain delay, play is about to resume.”

The first group of oil protestors caused a halt in the match between Grigor Dimitrov and Sho Shimabukuro. Another protestor returned in the next match between Katie Boulter and Daria Saville, causing the match between them to be suspended. After pre-assumptions of the attack from the protestors, Wimbledon was expected to have tightened security for the event, which surely was not the case.

The third protestor has been recognized as William John Ward, a civil engineer from Epsom, according to James Gray. The protestors have been carrying their motto of protecting the environment, using an illogical technique of gaining attention by causing damage in different sports in the UK.
