An exciting match-up awaits us today on Centre Court, Wimbledon, as 2nd seed Aryna Sabalenka and 6th seed Ons Jabeur battle it out for a place in the finals of the prestigious major. Belarus’ Sabalenka will hope to improve upon her 2021 semis appearance and reach a maiden Wimbledon final. Jabeur, the defending runner-up, will want to have another shot at the title.

Sabalenka reached the semifinal after defeating Panna Udvardy, Varvara Gracheva, Anna Blinkova, Ekaterina Alexandrova, and Madison Keys. She only lost a set to Gracheva in the process. Jabeur has faced a relatively tougher draw, having defeated Magdalena Frech, Zhuoxuan Bai, Bianca Vanessa Andreescu, Petra Kvitova and Elena Rybakina in a rematch of the previous year’s final. While Sabalenka’s road to the semis has been relatively straightforward, Jabeur had to fend off Slam champions Andreescu, Kvitova and reigning Wimbledon champion Rybakina.

Sabalenka has been in great form this season so far, having won the Australian Open for her maiden Slam title in January. Notably, Sabalenka is in contention for the world no. 1 ranking after this tournament. If she wins the title, she will have ended Iga Swiatek’s reign at the top of the game. Jabeur’s season so far has been relatively tamer. She, however, has picked form in the nick of time, playing arguably her best tennis from the season so far at the Championships in Wimbledon.

The duo have met four times in the past, With Sabalenka having won 3 of those meetings and Jabeur 1. Sabalenka won their last match-up in Fort Worth back in 2022.
