Carlos Alcaraz has sent an early warning to Novak Djokovic in regards to his goals for the upcoming season. The Spanish teenager has been unstoppable in 2022, ending the year as the new world number one. He also claimed his maiden Grand Slam title at US Open 2022, defeating Casper Ruud in the finals. Now, the Spaniard has set his sights on Wimbledon glory next year.

There is no arguing the fact that Wimbledon has been Novak Djokovic’s fortress for the past decade. The Serbian has by far been the best grass-court player in the recent times, given the fact that he has claimed seven Wimbledon titles in his last 11 attempts. Speaking about his exploits in 2022, Carlos Alcaraz acknowledged that he had a dream season, and targets unprecedented glory in the upcoming season.

Carlos Alcaraz listed some of his most memorable moments of the year, which includes the US Open title, and ending the year as the world number one. “It has been a dream season for me,” the US Open winner told the ATP as he tried to narrow down his highlights into what he felt were the most precious moments. “So many titles, big titles. First one is when I won Miami. When I won Barcelona. US Open. That’s for sure. I would say when I realised that I’m going to end as No 1, and when I won Madrid as well,” Alcaraz said.

Carlos Alcaraz was pretty clear in terms of his objectives for the 2023 season. The Spaniard eyes a second Grand Slam title, preferably the Wimbledon. “I want more. To win my second Grand Slam, I would say that’s the goal for the next season. And Wimbledon would be fine for me,” Alcaraz added.

Novak Djokovic claimed the Wimbledon title in 2022, defeating Nick Kyrgios in four sets in the final. The Serbian has won at the Championships for four consecutive seasons, and it would take some effort from Carlos Alcaraz to stop the former world number one.

Carlos Alcaraz could only manage to reach the last 16 of Wimbledon this season, where he was defeated by Jannik Sinner in four sets. The Spaniard has not played much grass court tennis on the ATP tour, and it is certain that the teenager will just keep getting better with each passing season.
