20-time grand slam champion Roger Federer has been out of action for almost 10 months now. He last played at Wimbledon 2021 and after that, decided to undergo yet another knee surgery later in August last year. The surgery ruled him out for months and currently, he was recovered and started mild indoor training and practice. The Swiss Maestro is yet to get a doctor’s approval and once he gets one, he will start practicing on the court.

Needless to say, fans all around the world are missing Federer on the court and can’t wait to welcome him back. Federer is expected to be back in a couple of months’ time. During the ongoing French Open, Eurosport analyst Mischa Zverev provided an important update on Federer’s much-anticipated return.

He revealed that his mother and a friend bumped inro Federer’s coach Ivan Ljubicic near Monaco where they asked him about Federer’s whereabouts. Zverev revealed that Ljubicic told her mother that Federer himself is more eager to return than anyone else. He added that without the legend, tennis is almost a different sport.

“My mother and a friend met Federer’s coach, Ivan Ljubicic, near Monaco,” Zverev spoke on Eurosport Germany’s ‘Matchball’ Show. “Ljubicic said that Roger is more eager to return than anyone else. I also think he must come back because without him tennis is almost a different sport.”

When will Roger Federer return?

Roger Federer was initially supposed to return around Wimbledon and as of now, his recovery is on track. He will not be fit in time for Wimbledon but will return to the tour after that. He is confirmed for the Laver Cup later this September and will also play the Swiss Indoors in October.

Hence Federer will definitely be back at the Laver Cup but whether he’ll play the US hardcourt swing or not will depend on his recovery in the coming months.
