‘WTA Big-3’ Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, and Elena Rybakina all confirm themselves for the World Tennis League in Abu Dhabi

‘WTA Big-3’ Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, and Elena Rybakina all confirm themselves for the World Tennis League in Abu Dhabi

The Big 3 of women’s tennis- Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek, and Elena Rybakina have confirmed their participation in the World Tennis League in Abu Dhabi. As the second edition of the tournament kicks off on 21 December in Abu Dhabi, the top players on the WTA tour have confirmed their participation.

World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka, who played in the first edition has said that she is expecting to have the same amount of thrill and enjoyment she had the last time around. Meanwhile, World No.2 Iga Swiatek and World No.5 Elena Rybakina have also confirmed their participation. All three players have already played in the first edition of the tournament which was played last year.

I’m excited to be returning for this season and really looking forward to seeing who I’ll be joining on court at this year’s World Tennis League. Last year, we had a great time on and off the court, and I’m hoping this will help me to prepare for next season.

No Novak Djokovic but Daniil Medvedev confirmed for World Tennis League 2

While the first-ever edition of the World Tennis League had Serbian tennis ace Novak Djokovic playing, there is no confirmation about his participation in the second edition of the event. However, Russian tennis ace and World No.3 Daniil Medvedev will be taking part in the tournament.

After seeing what the players experienced last year, I’m delighted to be joining for this season of the World Tennis League in Abu Dhabi. I’ve played several times in the UAE and always enjoy coming back, and I’m aiming to finish this year on a positive note there.
Daniil Medvedev said.

Medvedev’s compatriot Andrey Rublev will also be playing this year. Greek tennis ace and World No.7 Stefanos Tsitisipas‘ name is also confirmed for the World Tennis League 2. The second season of the World Tennis League will see 16 of the world’s best players compete at Yas Island’s Etihad Arena from Dec. 21 to 24, with the full roster to be announced in the coming weeks.

The format will see the players split into four teams with two matches every day from day one to three, in men’s and women’s singles and doubles, and mixed doubles. The top two teams will compete on Dec. 24, the final day of the tournament.
