Gauff had a pretty good season overall. She reached the fourth round of the first Grand Slam of the year, Australian Open but lost to Jelena Ostapenko. Being on the top of doubles ranking, she and her partner, Jessica Pegula, won the Qatar Open, cementing their position.

In the semifinals, she was defeated by second seed Jessica Pegula. She was ousted in the first round of the Wimbledon. In the Guadalajara Open, she defeated Caroline Garcia to reach her second consecutive final at this event. Sakkari won her second career title, four and a half years after her first. This was her first WTA 1000 victory.
