The Dubai Open, also known as Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, have begun in style. One of the most exciting and highly anticipated tennis tournaments in the Women’s tennis calendar will be played from February 19 to March 4 this year. All the matches and the final will be played in the Aviation Club Tennis Center (also known as Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
This is a WTA 500 tournament with some of the best female tennis players participating in this competition. This is the 23rd edition of the tournament, which began in 2001 for ladies.
Both the singles events and doubles events are on the schedule for tennis fans to experience great tennis action for the next 14 days. Jelena Ostapenko is the defending champion in the singles event while a Russian-Belgian pair of Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens won last year’s Championships.
Broadcast and live streaming details for the WTA Dubai Open 2023
This year, many prolific female tennis players will flock to this part of the world to participate in the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championships. The biggest name in the draw is World No.1 Iga Swiatek. She is in incredible form and recently won the Qatar Open 2023, dominating the whole tournament. The Pole will start her campaign in this competition by playing against the US Open 2021 finalist Leylah Annie Fernandez.
The Australian Open 2023 champion Aryna Sabalenka, World No.3 Jessica Pegula, WTA Finals 2022 champion Caroline Garcia, Coco Gauff, Maria Sakkari and other female superstars of tennis will also grace this tournament with their presence.
Besides singles players, top doubles players will also be participating in this competition. Veronika Kudermetova, Sania Mirza, and Elise Mertens, amongst others, will show their skills on the court. Also, Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula will pair up for this WTA 500 event.
However, the biggest name that will definitely be missed is of US Open and Wimbledon 2022 finalist Ons Jabeur. She withdrew from this tournament on health grounds.
