At the Pan Pacific Open in Japan, Swiatek lost the quarter-finals, scoring 2-6, 6-2, 4-6 to eighth seed, Veronika Kudermetova, much to the dismay of her fans.

Marketa Vondrousova, on the other hand, made a shocking exit from the China Open after losing the first round to Ukraine’s Anhelina Kalinina. At the US Open last month, the 24-year-old reached the quarter-finals where she lost to 19th seed, Madison Keys. She claimed the title at Wimbledon, ousting Tunisian ace, Ons Jabeur in straight sets.
