The WTA has managed to trigger a negative response and has drawn criticism from several fans once again. The Women’s Tennis Association which was founded by none other than Billie Jean King has fans questioning their limited coverage of Women’s Tennis despite being an organization dedicated to Women’s tennis.

Fans of the Tennis World questioned the organization once again and expressed their concerns regarding the coverage of Women’s games, drawing a comparison with ATP. Fans of the sport looked at the coverage of the Men’s Single’s Finals at Cincinnati between the top two seeds Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic and compared it.

The netizens reacted to a post by @juanignacio_ac on X which put the spotlight on the disparity between the way Women’s and men’s sports events are covered by giant media corporations. “TennisTV milking every possible second from the best their product can offer, ” the user stated in a post. They further highlighted the fact that about 80 minutes of videos were uploaded by Tennis TV in a span of less than 24 hours following the Men’s Single Finals at the Cincinnati Open. However, no such commitment was shown by WTA when the Women’s Singles match was covered.

This brings to light the differences in the approach of media houses while covering sports. WTA run by chairman Steve Simon received rightful criticism from the fans. Replying to this discrimination a fan commented, “@WTA watch and learn”.

The irony lies in the leadership of the WTA, with Chairperson Steve Simon and President Mickey Lawler at the helm, despite it being a women’s organization. However, their recent coverage of a match drew the ire of fans once more due to its lackluster nature, showcasing minimal efforts from their end.

A Twitter user remarked, “I think our marketing problem can be resolved starting with posting more of longer tennis highlights, instead of 5 min clips, not enough to showcase our great talents.” They further praised TennisTV for their coverage of the sport. Here are some of the reactions-
