Paula Badosa vs Aryna Sabalenka: Preview

Paula Badosa has been one of the most improved players in recent times. She has constantly risen up the ranks and is one of the best players on the current tour- especially on clay. She started the season with a Round of 16 outing at the Australian Open and then backed it up with a good outing at the Golden Swing where she made it to the semifinals at Indian Wells and a quarterfinal outing at Miami. She started her clay season at Charleston where she bowed out of the last 8. This week in Stuttgart, she survived a tough test from Elena Rybakina and then got the better of Ons Jabeur in the quarterfinal in three sets 7-6(9),1-6,6-3.
Belarussian Aryna Sabalenka hasn’t had an ideal 2022 season. After a good outing at the Australian Open where she made it to the fourth round, she bowed out of the Round of 16 in Dubai and backed it up with a quarterfinal outing in Qatar. She then had a terrible Golden Swing where she didn’t even win a single match. On clay, she bowed out of the second round at Charleston but bounced back this week in Stuttgart. She defeated Bianca Andreescu in the Round of 16 and then followed it up with a solid win over Anett Kontaveit.
Paula Badosa vs Aryna Sabalenka: Head-to-Head

This will be the third meeting between the duo. Badosa leads the H2H 2-0. They last met at the WTA Finals last year where Badosa won in straight sets.
Paula Badosa vs Aryna Sabalenka: Prediction

Badosa will walk in as the favorite to win the match given her recent form and record on clay. Her defensive game style bodes well with the red dirt and the kick in her serve gives her an added advantage too. Sabalenka, on the other hand, has struggled with form but is slowly getting back in good shape. Having said that, expect a thrilling clash between two of the very best with Badosa reaching the final.
Prediction: Badosa to win in three sets.
