“You are the only umpire that I’ve a problem with!” Nick Kyrgios gets into a heated debate with the chair umpire during his Round of 16 match against Daniil Medvedev at the US Open

Nick Kyrgios and Eva Asderaki
World No. 25, Nick Kyrgios won his fourth-round US Open match against World No. 1, Daniil Medvedev, 7-6(11), 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. Kyrgios will now play another Russian, Karen Khachanov in the quarter-final. During his match with Medvedev, Kyrgios had some peculiar moments. He lost the point that he would have won had he not crossed the net.
Nevertheless, the Aussie has made his way into the final 8 at the US Open. He is looking to reach a consecutive grand slam final after he achieved the runner-up position this year at the Wimbledon championship where he played against Novak Djokovic. Kyrgios has also won the Citi Open this year in both – singles and doubles. It’ll be interesting to watch his run at the last grand slam of the year.
I’ve never had a problem with it at this tournament apart from with you: Nick Kyrgios fumes over chair umpire’s warning during match against Daniil Medvedev

During the match against Medvedev, Kyrgios got into a heated debated with Eva Asderaki, the Chair umpire. Kyrgios got fed up as because he believed the serve clock started too early. He said to the umpire, “You are the only umpire that I’ve a problem in this matter,” Kyrgios shot at the umpire. I get back from the box and there’s like six seconds. I’ve never had a problem with it at this tournament apart from with you.”
This was rare for Kyrgios as he’s one of the fastest players between serves and he doesn’t get much fouls for the shot clock. This got the fans and experts talking about Kyrgios’ behaviour with chair umpires over the years. Furthermore, Eva Asderaki rarely sits in on Kyrgios’ matches so fans were surprised over his sudden reaction.
Kyrgios has also commented on him being the only Australian left in the last few rounds of the US Open. He said, “I’m the only Australian still left on the men’s side. It’s the same story every time, literally every time in a grand slam. I always thrive on it. I never want to forget all the things people say. I always carry this chip on my shoulder. I have it all in the back of my head when I’m playing.“
