“You can’t look at it in Tennis,” Adriano Panatta gives his take on Rafael Nadal and Alexander Zverev’s choice of wearing tank tops

Rafael Nadal, the 36-year-old Spaniard is considered to be one of the greatest tennis players of all time, winning 22 Grand Slam titles over the course of his career, which is the most of any player ever. The Spaniard has caught the headlines on many occasions throughout his career the latest one coming from his withdrawal from the 2022 Wimbledon semi-finals due to an injury.
There have been many things over the course of Nadal’s career that have made him popular among his fans, the most notable of all was his sleeveless shirts whilst playing tennis, a 19-year-old Nadal lifted his first ever major title at the French Open in 2005 which he won wearing one of those sleeveless shirts.

There have been many players who have followed in Nadal’s footsteps in wearing a sleeveless shirt while playing, Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, and many more have donned one of those shirts on the tennis court. Former Italian player Adriano Pannatta walked about his disliking of sleeveless shirts in an interview with Sette
Panatta said, “The tank top cannot be looked at. It’s fine for basketball, it’s fine for volleyball, but you can’t look at the tank top in tennis,” however, it has been stated by many that the tank top isn’t necessarily just a fashion statement as it has many benefits as well. Rafael Nadal talked about his decision to wear such clothing and he said, “I have small issues when I’m playing in very hot conditions when I hit my forehand, so I like to play without the sleeves. It makes me feel younger again,”
Nadal recently withdrew from the Wimbledon semi-finals due to an abdominal injury and will be returning to the court very soon as he was present on the entry list for the US Open and the Spaniard was also included in Team Europe for the Laver Cup that is scheduled for September and has the fans hyped up.
