But as they say, nothing lasts forever, the 41-year-old had to call time on her extraordinary career earlier this year. She bid goodbye to the sport after her US Open exit saying that she had to ‘evolve away’ from tennis. Watching the legend leave the court after her last match brought tears to every tennis lover’s eyes.

As a post-retirement update of her daily routine, the younger one of the famed Williams Sisters revealed the difficulties she is facing to adjust to being away from the court. The 6-time Wimbledon champion said that her routine was harder than she ever imagined.

“I’m currently allowing myself to be tired. Allowing myself To relax. Allowing myself to just be. It’s harder than I ever imagined. I’ve never allowed myself to do any of that before…”, Williams wrote on Twitter.

Serena Williams turned pro way back in 1995. She remains one of the most decorated tennis players ever. Other than her Grand Slams record the 41-year-old won the Grand Slam Cup (now discontinued) in 1999, WTA Finals 5 times, and the 2012 London Olympics gold medal in the women’s singles event. She also remains one of the highest-paid female athletes of all time. Williams got married to internet entrepreneur and investor Alexis Ohanian in 2017 and they have a daughter together.

Williams is currently focussing to spend as much time with her family as she could. Many tennis pundits have predicted her return to the court. But as long as Williams is concerned she really deserves the rest after such an illustrious career.
