“You should be last person in Australia to judge,” – Nick Kyrgios castigated on social media after he condemned the violent brawl in ‘Melbourne Derby’ of the A-League

Nick Kyrgios has been handed the moniker of the ‘Bad boy of tennis’ for many years now. The Australian, a former World No. 13, has on numerous occasions lost his temper on the court and been fined for the same. He has been one of the most fined players in history.
The biggest fine came in 2019 when he was fined £131,000 for his behavior at the Cincinnati Masters. Up against Karen Khachanov, Kyrgios broke multiple rackets, had a foul-mouthed argument with the chair umpire, and left the court in the middle of the match. The Aussie was also one of the most fined players at this year’s Wimbledon and the US Open.
This time around, the tennis pro was nowhere involved in any fight but was still trolled. Kyrgios put out a tweet condemning the violent clashes at the ‘Melbourne Derby’ of the Australian League (A-League). After Melbourne City’s goalkeeper Thomas Glover threw a flare, aimed at him, back in the crowd, spectators raced on the pitch dodging the security and attacked the goalkeeper.
One of the spectators struck Glover with a metal bin that left the player with a bloodied face. Despite the measures of the on-field security, the clashes couldn’t be controlled and the match was abandoned with the Melbourne Victory leading 1-0. Reacting to the incident, Kyrgios tweeted, “Typical, gronks. No respect. You are sitting in the crowd watching for a reason.”
Fans remind Nick Kyrgios of his own behavior on the court
While what happened in the ‘Melbourne Derby’ was pathetic, fans still found a way to criticize Kyrgios. In no way Kyrgios can defend his own actions on the court such as the usage of profanity and racket smashing. However, any sports enthusiast would have expressed their disappointment seeing the ugly scenes in the football match.
While Kyrgios was no different than it, he was still schooled by Twitteratis for checking his own behavior before commenting on others. Below are some of the reactions from Twitter users to Kyrgios’ tweet.
Kyrgios did not respond to any troll having faced this issue a lot of times earlier. The 27-year-old has often been triggered by the spectators during the matches to get a reaction out of him and at one point, he does lose his temper. Despite the fines and punishments, Kyrgios has not stopped giving a reply back and it seems unlikely that he will sit behind and get heckled.
