Former World No. 1 Naomi Osaka is slowly becoming a Tour regular after her tough season last year. The Japanese superstar’s absence and early exits earlier this season almost saw her move out of the Top-100 but she had rallied back good with some big results to enter the Top-50 once again and is currently ranked 36th in the world.

Naomi last played at the 2022 Madrid Open where she lost in the second round to local girl Sara Sorribes Tormo in the second round in a straight-set defeat. Clay has never been Naomi’s strong suit and it showed once again as Sara clinched the victory 6-3, 6-1 in 1 hour and 28minutes. With a couple of more clay events lined up for Naomi, the 4-time Grand Slam champion dropped some exciting news for the fans for the Grass season.

“Oh, yeah. So I have been like really trying to focus on my net game, because I’m going to play mixed doubles in Wimbledon. I know, shocking, right? I’m shocked too. Your eyes got super big. I really don’t want to like disappoint the person I’m playing with, because whenever I play doubles | always say, Sorry. I’m going to try not to be a liability,” said Naomi during her press conference after the defeat to Sara.

With the press in the room buzzing with excitement to know her mixed doubles partner, Naomi remained tight-lipped about it. “If this person sees it and they want to like respond, they can do that, but I don’t know. Isn’t it more fun to kind of see it when it’s around the time? I’m pretty sure if you wanted to guess you could guess who it is,” added Naomi further keeping everyone on their toes. One of the reporters did retort by saying, “I have one guess,” to which Naomi just replied, “Oh man!”

Could Nick Kyrgios be Naomi Osaka’s partner at this year’s Wimbledon?

Nick Kyrgios and Naomi had joint practice sessions for the 2022 Indian Wells with Naomi picking a few of the Australian’s elements to her game. After Miami was heckled in Indian Wells, Nick was one of the first to speak about how damaging effect such comments have on the players and had shown complete support to Osaka.

With Nick having confirmed his Doubles plan for Wimbledon along with his 2022 Australian Open partner Thanasi Kokkinakis and given the latest friendship between Nick and Naomi, from ‘K&K’ we might actually see ‘N&N’ at the Wimbledon this year if things fall into the place.
