Nick has not enjoyed a great season so far as he did not play on the tour for almost 5 months after his Roud of 32 defeat at the 2021 Australian Open. He returned to action at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships where he had to retire due to a mid-match injury during his 3rd round clash with Felix-Auger Aliassime.

He then opted out of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics despite being selected to represent his country in the mega-sports event. He did not agree with the restrictions and regulations at the Olympics Village and the stadium and decided not to travel to Tokyo. He played quite a few tournaments in the US Open leg series but failed to reach the semi-finals of any tournament.

He is currently preparing for the 2021 Laver Cup where he will be representing Team World for the 4th straight edition and along with American great John Isner, remains the only player to feature in all the editions so far.

The 2021 Laver Cup begins at the TD Garden in Boston from the 24th of September and will conclude on 26th September.
