‘It’s Djokovic, but..’: Nicolas Mahut has an interesting take on the GOAT debate

Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer
A lot of tennis fans and experts have varied opinions when it comes to giving the tag of ‘Greatest Of All Time’ to one player out of the big 3. Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic have won 20 Grand Slam titles each. Every single one of them has a huge fan following who considers their particular favorite player as the best in the world.
Some reckon that Roger Federer, one of the richest tennis players in history, must be given that tag, whereas some believe that the ‘King of Clay’ Rafael Nadal deserves that title. Moreover, current World No.1 Novak Djokovic also has innumerable admirers who believe that this era belongs to the Serbian great.
‘There is no clear answer’: Mahut on who is the GOAT

Adding spice to the already heated debate around who is the greatest of all time, French tennis player Nicolas Mahut has given a statement in which he has claimed that if one looks only at the numbers, then Novak Djokovic wins the race. “If we look at the numbers, it’s Djokovic,” he said.
However, he also said that if one looks at the overall impact Roger Federer has had on the game of tennis, then it would be fair to say that he is the talisman of tennis. He said, “but the impact Roger has had on tennis was bigger than Novak’s.” The Frenchman ended his statement from a diplomatic standpoint.
Mahut, in the end, hinted that there is no possible way to come up with just one name. He said, “so there will never be a clear answer.” Mahut is a veteran of the game. The 39-year-old athlete from France is a former World No. 1 doubles player. He withdrew from the Winston-Salem Open 2021 after reaching the quarter-finals with his doubles partner Fabrice Martin due to an injury scare.
