“No more having my parents fill out my documents and stuff” Coco Gauff excited to finally turn 18

Coco Gauff
World No. 17 Coco Gauff will celebrate her 18th birthday on 13th March and will be in the Indian Wells Tennis Garden playing as the 16th seed at the 2022 Indian Wells Open. The American teenager defeated compatriot Claire Liu 6-1, 7-6(4) to move into the third round of the ‘5th Grand Slam of Tennis’.
Coco turned Pro in 2018 at the age of 14 and shocked the world with her underdog run at the 2019 Wimbledon where she entered the main-draw as a qualifier and then defeated former champion Venus Williams in her main-draw debut at the Championships and rising in popularity that led to her match being scheduled on the Center Court of the All-England Club as she reached the 4th round.
As she turns 18 this week, the American talked to WTA Insider on the Media Day of the tournament and spoke about her excitement of finally turning an Adult and spoke about the things she is looking forward to once she celebrates her 18th birthday.
“No more having my parents fill out my documents and stuff, so I’m excited for that. I guess it’s been three years since I really started playing on tour and the time has gone by fast. I really can’t believe that I’m going to legally be an adult, but my parents won’t see me as one. For me, honestly, it’s not the on-court accomplishments.
“It’s more how I accepted everything and tried to be a role model for kids. I feel like in the last three years so much has happened in the world and for me in my career. I think I’ve done a decent job in handling it all,” said Gauff.
Tough test for Coco Gauff in both singles and doubles

Having signed up for the Doubles event with fellow American Caty McNally, the two Americans are seeded 3rd and have made their way into the Round of 16 of the tournament having defeated compatriots Lauren Davis and Christina McHale winning the match in straight-sets. The pair will now take on Maria Sakkari and Ajla Tomljanovic for a place in the quarter-finals.
In the singles, Gauff will be up against 2015 Indian Wells champion Simona Halep in the 3rd round of the tournament with the pair meeting for the second time on the Tour having earlier played in the 2019 Wimbledon when Halep defeated the teenager in the 4th round on her way to winning her 2nd Grand Slam title.
