Cameron Norrie vs Alexei Popyrin : Preview

Cameron Norrie comes to Mallorca after a great week at the Queen’s Club finishing as the runner-up at the competition. Norrie was up against the top-seeded Italian, Matteo Berrettini who clinched his 5th ATP title and 1st ATP-500 title on the tour. Norrie was excellent throughout the tournament and will look to continue his form in Spain as well.
The Queen’s Club 2021 was the first Grass tournament of the season for the Brit who previously played at the French Open 2021 losing to Rafael Nadal in the 3rd round. However, with his good week back in England, he will aim for another final this week and hopefully a title as well.
Alexei Popyrin will look to move past the first round for the first time since he made his Grass debut at the ATP Stuttgart Open 2021 where he lost in the 1st round. He later had to face another first round defeat at the Queen’s Club 2021 and will now be hoping to avoid another early exit with the 2021 Wimbledon just a week away.
Popyrin is currently on a poor streak of 3rd consecutive 1st round exit on the tour and will be looking to avoid a 4th 1st round exit when he takes the court against Norrie who will be beaming with confidence coming into the clash.
Cameron Norrie vs Alexei Popyrin : Head to Head

This will be just their 2nd meeting and 1st on Grass. Their first and only meeting took place in the quarter-finals of the 2019 Atlanta Open where Norrie won in straight-sets and leads the head-to-head tie 1-0.
Cameron Norrie vs Alexei Popyrin : Prediction

Popyrin playing in only his 2nd Grass season of the career will come in with a 6-5 record on Grass so far and a season record of 19-12 with a 5-0 record on indoor hardcourts. However, with his poor results in the last few matches where he has won only 1 set in the last 10 contested, it will be difficult for the Australian to battle against Norrie.
Cameron will come into the tie with a career Grass record of 12-19 and with his 4 wins last week, he has already made this season as his most wins on Grass registered. He has a season record of 33-13 and will be the favourite for this clash as well.
Prediction: Cameron Norrie to win in straight-sets.
